Hardin-Simmons experienced media challenges and potential reputational issues related to institutional changes, social justice events, and Covid-19. Alex advised and assisted with internal and external communications execution and helped the leadership team and the Board of Trustees successfully navigate difficulties. Alex was also instrumental in helping the President and his Administrative Council complete a five-year Mission Action Plan approved by the Board of Trustees. HSU is now well positioned for university-wide growth and better results.

Alex provided several years of advice and counsel to Walmart Corporate Affairs including public affairs, government relations, and corporate communications. Alex’s experience in the Walmart Legal Department over time also included class action and commercial litigation management at the highest levels, management of all outside law firm relationships, development and implementation of the legal department’s ground-breaking diversity and inclusion initiatives, and public speaking and representation at events nationwide. Alex was instrumental in building a bigger, better, and more diverse legal department to support Walmart’s ongoing growth and success.

NorthWest Arkansas Community College is the largest community college in Arkansas. As Chair of the Board of Trustees, Alex provided leadership as an advisor to the president in updating the Mission and Vision statements of the college, revising college policies, and adhering to policy governance principles and best practices. As Board Chair, Alex guided the college through a presidential transition, including leading the search to successfully hire a new president. The college continues to excel as best in class, and Alex is still involved as a member of the Foundation Board.
